I wasn’t sure if I wanted to include self harm, and went back and forth on it for some time. It wasn't until I got applications where people talked about seeing them as a mark of something they lived through and are proud they survived that I saw how necessary it was to include it.
This piece was created as a series of 30 body neutral paintings painted over 30 days.
